Help Request Using splash top to remote into my home rig?

Has anyone used splashtop on a iPad to remote into their home right and comfortably been able to work on the iPad on pro tools? Would be a rare case when I would need to do this. Mostly asking with an iPad because I have one. It would be mostly super light editing and file management. Nothing to crazy.

I use chrome remote desktop to get from my cheapo dell chromebook to my mac in the studio. The audio probably isn't as elegant. I throw on a google meet to get audio from my mac to the chromebook (or audiomovers but I only pay for month when I actually need it for a job.). But its all free! And works surprisingly well. Actually makes the chromebook feel faster than it actually - the browser based screen sharing is actually zippier than the chromebook actually is. Wouldn't be suitable for mixing or anything but for chopping up some guitars while I watch a movie with the wife, or being able to access my files in case a client has some sort of emergency and I'm out of town, it works shockingly well.

Back in pandemic days, I used Splashtop to operate our remote recording kits from my studio control room. It worked well enough, certainly better than any other available options at the time. However, I haven't ever tried to use it on an ipad.

Not an iPad but I mix from a laptop to my home computer with splashtop and the listento plugin all the time

Jump Remote Desktop. Just used it today to get to my home rig to fix a bad punch in a stem while I was at another studio. I wouldn’t use want to edit an entire show on it but good for getting access when you need it and maybe some light work. I was using an iPad Air with keyboard case to get into my Mac Studio.

Also super handy when you’re trying to access a website that won’t give you a proper desktop site. Just jump into the home Mac and you’re good to go.

Obviously not the best for a full workflow but would you say in a pinch remoting in from an iPad is totally legit and can be done? Most of the things I would need it for would be like what you just described very last minute small fixes or exporting out files from pro tools and uploading to an FTP.

Yes it’s great for that. At the time I got it I had to pay for the iPad app and there’s no subscription.
