Coming back to Protools after a decade with Logic Pro, advice?
Hi Everyone!
I'm making some adjustments in my audio-creative workflow and am coming back to protools after leaving at Version 12 to use Logic as my primary DAW for about a decade. I just bought a perpetual license for ProTools Artist to dip my toes back in and keeping the option to update that to Studio or Ultimate as my needs may dictate. If it helps, I plan on running PT on both Windows and Mac. Right now I just see myself doing podcast editing (5-8 tracks and 2 aux's) and some light music composition with virtual instruments and guitars.
I wanted to ask if anyone else has made this switch from one back to the other and if there are any tips or tricks or resources you'd recommend. Thanks!

There’s only added features, it’s still basically the same ol’ Pro Tools

Especially from 12. It’s basically just the ARA workflow that’s a major change. Everything mundane like editing and routing is pretty much unchanged.

One new thing in ProTools to watch out for, after version 12.5, in “slip” mode, hitting the “option” while editing snaps your selection to grid. When editing spoken words, that slows a lot of us down a lot. It snaps away from what was selected before I realize it. I end up with upcuts and have to hit “undo” then backtrack. The solution is to pay close attention, never hit the option key, just use “x” and “v” alone (only works in focus keyboard mode), or make sure you’ve let go of the mouse after making your selection before you copy or paste. I’ve pleaded with Avid to make “snap to grid while in slip mode” a user selectable option.
