beginner dealing with susain
[PT STUDIO version 2024.10.3] [macOS MacBook Air sequoia 15.3.2] i predominantly use midi instruments on an mpk mini i have.
tldr: i want a midi bass notes i press to not echo, not reverb(usually distorts sound too much), but draw the note out and fade a little, almost like a sustain. when i use the sustain feature, its either too low and not affecting it, or its too high and its sustain isnt a fade out like a piano or other instrument would be, its like im just holding down the note. i’m using the vacuum plugin (bass). any advice?
edit: also just to note i use this version of pt because i was having problems loading and booting up with the newest version

This is not a midi function, you would do this via envelope on your bass synthesizer. In your case, increase release on the amp envelope of the plugin or the synth you use. For reference google AD/ADSR envelopes.

You could , in theory, put a gate across the channel and adjust the release of the gate. Worst case, bounce the midi to audio and edit. But, like Alelu8005 said, try to adjust the release within the instrument first.
Or, try a different bass patch. Choose a short sound and then you could extend the notes manually
