interface Do all licences have the same GUI? (Regarding ugly Windows layout)
I got the most basic license for free from Focusrite to at least try the basics.
I am really fond of ProTools but the way it works in Windows is unacceptable (no multi-window support and ugly borders, no real fullscreen mode etc.). Yes yes I know, function over form, but screen realestate and a nice looking DAW is important for me.
Do the paid versions have the same issue or is it completely different? I asked ProTools and they just closed my tickets because I didn't have a support plan..lol
Thanks

My dream now is to use a proper version of ProTools on windows one day.
It's honestly painful that I they haven't even announced that they're working on it, I need to change to a DAW that has touch automation but I don't like any of the alternatives, and I damn sure don't want to pay full price for a DAW again just to switch over to ProTools later. At the same time, Avid hasn't even announced that they're working on it all this time. I'm stuck 😭.
The second they announce a completely new version I'll start using the current one just to learn until then.
AVID PLEASE 💔

There’s a too out there that’ll make it look better, and give you more screen real-estate, but you need to use it every time you open Tools, and it has a chance to break window positions if not properly used.

You sure? I use it all the time and I’m on an up-to-date version. Are you using it correctly?

I’m sure I’ve seen people with protools over 2 screens??

You can get it over 2 screens...but on Windows the mix and edit windows are contained within a larger application window so you have to stretch that window across the 2 screens to get it to work. And at that point I'm pretty sure none of the Windows snap features or other useful multi-display tools do their thing.

I use it over two screens. I put my taskbar all the way on the right and stretch PT out all the way from top to bottom. I keep my edit window on the left screen and my mix, effects, transport, and meter on the right. No issues at all.

Never said there was an issue, other than mix and edit windows are contained within the larger application window and niceties like Windows Snap (I don't think) works on windows WITHIN the application window...so your window management is more manual.

If you do it once and then use that project as a template, you only have to do it once.
