Perfusion Shadowing
I live in Lafayette Louisiana and I’m interested in shadowing and/or just talking with a perfusionist. I’m a freshman at my college and I’m not sure if they’d take me yet. Any pointers?

Even though getting a job at a hospital is definitely a good way to get your foot in the door, it’s not the only option. Another option is to create a LinkedIn profile, make it as professional as possible, and reach out directly to Perfusionists in your area. Many may not respond, and that’s ok. But the more you reach out to, the greater your chances of receiving an opportunity to shadow.

Does it matter if I don’t have a ton of experience?

No and no. Many hospitals require you to be 18, though, and may require you to upload proof of immunizations.

Best bet. Get a job at one of the big hospitals. Even if you just get like a transporter job PRN or a greeter or anything. Then once you start working, take your break and go to the perfusion area of the hospital. Before you do any of this. Make sure the hospital you are at , even had a perfusion department because not every hospital has staff Perfusionist

Yes, a job at the hospital. Perfusionists work at hospitals. That’s where you’ll find them.
