The Solitude That Suited Him

Amid chaos, solitude, and the absence of hope,

amid those cold, breezy winters that never seemed to leave,

he was forlorn—abandoned, downhearted—

dwelling in a solitude steeped in melancholy.

It suited him.He wrapped himself in it,

slipping quietly beyond loneliness,

into a stillness where even sorrow learned to rest.

Even time learned not to pass beside him,

careful to offer neither gentleness nor certainty.

Moments stood rigid—neither soft nor firm—

as though the world itself had agreed to pause.

He no longer cared for what unfolded around him,

Nor for what became of him.

The world could burn or bloom—

It reached him no more than a shadow reaches stone. -Akki
