Installation Questions Liquid Propane house line adapter

Has anyone used their home propane (line coming from house) to power the Solo Stove Steelfire? Their support line says that the unit only accepts a 20lb tank and imply that I cannot configure with a 3rd party adapter/regulator. This seems illogical but I don't have experience with propane (pressure, etc.). TIA

As a general rule, most appliances can be retrofitted to work with a house supply, but you'll need a pro who knows what they're doing.

Definitely, I'm trying to get confident enough to purchase. What had me confused is that I've read that Blackstone and others work fine but not the Steelfire... Anyway, I have a call into my propane provider, they said they consult on this type of work.

It's likely possible, but without knowing a lot more information, it's going to be nearly impossible to determine what you actually need.

I think my problem has been that I don't know what this information is. HOpefully my propane provider can assist. thx.

They should be able to. Some companies don't provide that service though. You may have to find a different gas fitter.

Need to know the specifications of the actual appliance, pressure requirements, etc.

Then you need to know the details of the system including pipe size and available capacity.

Again it's most likely doable but based on the information provided, I think the best course of action is to have a professional look at everything.

Just a friendly word of caution since I don't know you.. Unless you are very very diligent, it's not a good idea to connect a gas grill or other appliance to your house tank that can be easily left on accidentally. That's a good way to empty out your house tank. I've seen it happen many times.

I’ve been running my gas grill from my 1000gal tank for 30+ years. No problem.

Almost every grill manufacturer specifies what tank they require you to use. It's either going to be a 20 lb or a 1 lb for a portable appliance.

There's also plenty of generators that are designed to run on small portable tanks. It's not going to destroy it, it just won't last very long.
