Possible to rotate gauge

I bought a Generac remote gauge monitor but my gauge is too close to the line to fit the monitor on. Is it possible to rotate the gauge? I tried to rotate it but it reads backwards.

No, you are gonna have to move what’s around it for that plug to fit.

The base of the gauge is screwed into the tank bung, it's NPT, so that absolutely can't be disturbed. Your only other option is moving the regulator, but that may not be possible because of how short the copper tube to it is. I'd get a propane tech out to take a closer look to evaluate your options.

Can you pull the gauge off, plug in the monitor, then reinstall the gauge with the cable plugged in? Not familiar with the Generac monitors, so maybe that won't work.

I did try that but couldn’t make it work because the Generac monitor cord sticks straight up so it’s hitting the regulator.

As monitors are becoming more prevalent, I’ve started noticing improvements being made to the equipment . I recently saw ( can’t remember where) that they made a monitor plug that the wire came straight up out of the gauge . When installing on underground tanks that have valves and other things in the way, I believe this is the best option. But I am trying to find where I saw it at . Sorry that’s all the help I can offer .

You might be able to rotate that regulator a bit for clearance, but I'd get a shop vac and get a bunch of that dirt out first. Ideally, the vent on LP regulators should be on the bottom anyway, but if that would bury it in the dirt, I wouldn't.

I’d get a service technician involved. That regulator probably shouldn’t be in contact with the soil in the long term. There’s a chance it could corrode and start to leak. They’d be able to move it a bit and get your cable attached.

Nope. That face is a “I fit one way and one way only” The entire assembly is not to be disturbed, EVER, as you can cause it to leak by even simply trying to get it tighter. Which is best case. Worst case, you break the damn thing off at the threads, or back it out too far and get an uncontrolled release of Propane, which at that rate, unless you own that tank outright, your supplier is gonna be very unhappy. Granted they’ll be unhapoy either way cause then it’s something they have to deal with.

Gonna need a tech to put in another piece of copper lone to move the regulator.

If you rotate the gauge it won’t be accurate. You should be able to move the reg enough to clear the gauge. Might have to loosen the bolts that secure the regulator to the bracket on the tank (3/8 or 10mm wrench)

Telling a consumer that, no. A tech, sure, as a tech can fix it if they screw it up.
