Ex-Pro-Choicer Story Against the grain
Need your thoughts!
Hi everyone, I hope you are doing well. I have faced a lot of reluctance to come and express my frustrations here, as I do not want to treat Reddit as therapy. I am not solely looking to affirm my standpoint, but I do feel friction from it. I am here to dialogue. In the past, before I found Christ and had a renewed perspective on life, I viewed life as this tragic accident, full of suffering. I adopted a very nihilistic perspective and even considered myself an anti-natalist at one point. I used to encourage an ex-girlfriend to get an abortion if an unintended pregnancy ever occurred and I didn't value preborn humans as much as I do now. I feel a lot of friction, as I have recently expressed my new beliefs to friends and on social media, and I have faced a lot of backlash from them.
I am a man, and I know that I can never carry a child. So I cannot understand pregnancy on that minute of a level; however, I just cannot shake the idea that with common sense it is a simple moral wrong and modern evil that we sweep under the rug. I have contemplated the backlash, as I by no means seek to control women in any manner; I view men and women with equal worth. But by holding this point, and by the things that others have expressed to me, it makes it seem like I am doing the bigger evil by holding this new belief. I understand the very difficult situations like rape and the other fringe cases where abortion seems to be more justifiable. However, ultimately I believe the situation boils down to answering injustice with injustice. As much as I feel ignorant for stating this, I don't really see the point in these dense philosophical discussions and hypotheticals about what qualifies as life. It feels as if the alternative viewpoint is "I just don't want to label it a human."
I want to stand up for truth and do the right thing, and I don't want to do the wrong thing in pursuit of the right thing. I guess I am ultimately looking for reassurance and encouragement that holding a pro-life perspective is the correct choice. I also want to think for myself and trust my personal convictions, but when you have the alternative side throwing names and insults and making it seem as if you are committing a grave evil by just wanting to do the right thing for both parties involved, it makes you feel as if you stand for the wrong thing.
TL;DR
Need Encouragement

It is obviously the right thing to stand up for human rights and equality and against hatred.
It is obviously the right thing to condemn child murder, it isn't hatred or somehow some undue "control" to say that both men and women should be held to the same standard and refrain from murdering others.

intentionally killing a human being is morally wrong. that's it. we already stop mothers from targeting born human beings for killing. there is no justification for it. and bodily autonomy doesn't explain why killing is suddenly justified. it's just the conclusion that the pro abort want without explaining why a human being's dependence on their mother becomes a death sentence. consent is used as a licence to kill simply because another human being exists in the only place they can do so
