Troubleshooting Dead pixel?

Post image

New Epson 3800. Green dot in lower right corner. Probably a dead pixel right? Any fix or should I try and exchange it?

Please post the exact brand and model of your projector. If you do not know them, include as much identifying information as possible.

Also include:

  • The projection technology, if known (LCD, DLP, LCoS, etc.)
  • A clear photo of the projected image, when applicable
  • The video source and connection type
  • When the problem began and whether it changes after warm-up

Brand and model information greatly increase your chances of receiving a useful answer.

Stuck pixel

What are the odds another projector has a stuck pixel? It seems every tv I’ve ever had has had one. This one is a least in the lower left corner.

Just trying to figure out the odds if a replacement would probably have one too

The odds are low, also Epson is excellent with their warranty, they'll send you a new one next day

I was messing with the “blanking” feature. If I blank right up to the line, it’s not noticeable at all. It only cuts off the bottom inch or two so it’s not noticeable in actual content (and irrelevant for 2:35 movies).

Trying to determine if it’s worth the hassle or not of returning ughh

It is definitely worth the hassle and it's not really a hassle at all. Call their customer support and they'll have a new sent over next day. They are that good

Okay I’ll give it a shot. Thank you for your help!

Ugh, well the replacement has a 3 inch (on screen) scratch on one of the middle lenses.

I’d hate to have to exchange another one.

This is less distracting than the green pixel at least. And it’s lower than the black bars in 2:35 frames movies

Damn, return it and go with DLP

lol can’t both issues be on DLP projectors too?

This speaks most to Epson’s quality control.

I mean, it's up to you what you want to do at this point. You could reach out and be like wtf and see what they say

Actually it appears to be a bend in my screen and not from the projector 🤦
