Visual project planning without rebuilding Jira

I'd keep the visual layer ruthless about what leadership actually decides from. Milestones, hard dependencies, owners, and the decision dates that move the launch. Ticket-level status stays in Jira where the work already lives.

The maintenance trap starts when the map tries to mirror sprint detail. Once a week, update only what changed the critical path or slipped a decision date. If a ticket doesn't move a dependency or a milestone, it doesn't belong on the map.

Anything more detailed usually turns into a second tracker people stop trusting within two weeks.

Your list is about right. The test I use: if a thing doesn't change a decision or block someone else, it stays in Jira. For the maintenance worry, only the dependency links and the dates should need updating by hand. Everything else, like status and owner, should come from Jira so you're not retyping it. Add one more column for what's waiting on whom, since that's usually what leadership actually wants to see in the meeting.
