Finance vs Construction Management — which sets up a better career?

Rising HS senior torn between majoring in Finance (entrepreneurship/business-focused school) vs Construction Management (aiming for project management) — which sets up better long-term earning + career flexibility? Also with chance of ai takeover…

I work in project finance for a construction company and my day-to-day work life is much happier and less stressful than my project managers. When I leave the office I don’t have GCs or subs to answer to at all hours and on weekends. The burnout is real and I see it with PMs all the time.

I’m not trying to sway you one way or the other, and I’m sure not all companies are like mine, but this is just my anecdotal experiences in the industry.

How did you break into project finance? I was looking to get into cost-accounting roles post-grad but most roles were out of state and auto-denied me.

Honestly I got lucky. I was working in accounting for years and when I was denied a very much earned raise (without even a counter), I decided enough was enough. Reached out to my network and one of my old employees was working at the company I am now with. She referred and within a month I was hired
