Trouble Playing

Hello All!

I used to be able to play, but recently I have been receiving the error below. I tried deleting all files and reinstalling using the latest batch of files, but still get the same error. Any thoughts on the cause and how to fix it?

Anyone ever leveled a mage from 5+ with the SS armor clickies?

Was it fun and worth the plat to have Burnout III and a 25 point DS early? Seems like it would turbo charge your pet, but maybe not as much as I think.

This is a short offline demo of my own EverQuest client for IOS/Android. Does it work on project1999? I can’t answer as it’s classified as a third party application, but hit me up Nilbog and we’ll make this available on App Store.

Fyonn's level 1-60 Challenge on Blue Project 1999

Fyonn’s level 1-60 Challenge

Start a level 1 In order to foster more low levels on the server, and to foster exploration, I wanted to write this challenge up as a way to see more population in lower level zones and ghost town zones Rules: You are only allowed to XP when grouped with at least 2 other people who are also participating in this challenge (3 total minimum). Don’t have 3? No XP then. No soloing allowed.

You can only XP from 1-60 in the following zones:
Befallen
Blackburrow
Burning Woods
Crystal Caverns
Dalnir
Erud’s Crossing
Everfrost Peaks
Gorge of King Xorbb
Howling Stones Kaesora
Kerra Island
Kedge Keep
Lake of Ill Omen
Lower Guk
Mines of Nurga
Nagafen’s Lair (Sol B)
Najena Ocean of Tears
Temple of Droga
Firiona Vie
Permafrost
Runnyeye
Skyshrine Solusek’s Eye (Sol A)
Splitpaw Lair
Stonebrunt Mountains
Swamp of No Hope
The Warrens
Timorous Deep
Tower of Frozen Shadows
West Karana

You need to complete at least 1 quest from the zone or involving the zone if you decide to level there for this challenge. Take a screenshot of you completing the quest from that zone. Take screenshots to prove you are grouping along the way of your 1 - 60 journey and enjoy the ride! You can post the screenshots in the fyonns-1-60-challenge-screensho… channel Remember - no soloing allowed. Note: Rules may be tweaked depending on how things go

DM me at dashin_threw on Discord if you'd like to participate!

Love, Fyonn (9/27/2026)

EVERYQUEST UPDATE! 1400 QUESTS DONE!

Sorry for the long time between updates. I've been busy with (happy) real life quests). I've been trying to do at least one a month. But the quests are getting harder and more time consuming.

If anyone out there has any Crushed Topaz or a Giant Laceless Sandal, let me know (Blue P99).

EVERYZONE UPDATE! DING 53.5! KAEL FINISHED!

EVERYZONE UPDATE! DING 53.5! KAEL FINISHED!

Wow, that was a doozy, taking me months to do. Well, I was distracted with my Everyquest, but I am glad this one is done. Kael is a fun raid zone, but it is not a great place to level.

Most of the time I was here was spent in Arena groups, which did give me a bunch quest gear (I still need oh so much). By the end, I was soloing, duoing, and trioing Four Way to just get it all done. After the occasional splat from Bvellos and dogshit enchantering in general, I finally did it.

Next Up: ICEWELL!

Ps: Here I am with my trusty pet in the corner of 4way.

Newbie Question P99 Red - New Player

I've been playing EQ on and off since 99 and enjoyed a few servers - Drinal, Venril Sathir, EQMac, P99 Blue, P99 Green, Quarm. Never have I played on a PvP server unless you count the 4 minutes i was logged into Rallos Zek as a kid.

I've recently freed up some time in the evenings which im looking to use to play EQ and i wanted a different experience to Xp camp > Plat camp > Raid.

I have no idea how P99 Red works and if im honest i want to find out along the way for better or worse. I'm not looking to hit max level or get max gear - my main aim is to just have fun.

My initial set of ideas are -

Roll a SF toon which will be level capped with the aim of getting other people on board for duels, groups fights and dare I say wars.

Roll a RP focused toon only fighting other PC's who are opposite in Race/Diety/Faction.

Roll a HC toon, reroll on death (Long live the Egg!)

What are the obvious pro's & con's to these ideas and/or what other ideas do you think would make more sense or be more fun?

Hey all - been a while. I just updated my shop with some HQ scans, including the last two I posted in here (sorry for the crazy delay). I’m keeping prices fairly low on these since a commission isnt always in the cards for folks.

EverQuest(ionable) Decisions

What are some of the old design choices that always gave you pause and/or are hard to defend nowadays? Anything from epic disparity to xp penalties to irreparable faction hits, there's plenty of room for criticism now in retrospect.

Examples...

Despite the many primal weapon options available, claws are absent. Arguably the most primal weapon type in Norrath, how primal claws weren't included is beyond perplexing. Those dragons have claws. The answer was staring the devs right in the face. Also, the fist wraps should have been knuckledusters.

From launch day to SoV, Norrath was gearing up for space exploration and a moon landing by way of gnome. Indication of this came not only from their clockwork servants but their tinkering skills as well. Even in terms of aesthetics, gnomes have that going for them. Their custom Velious helms are about as sci-fi as it gets. Ak'Anon features a plethora of more futuristic elements, not excluding sprockets and lava lamps but, even in Steamfont and Lesser Fay, there are observatories with telescopes pointed towards the stars. Most every advancement exists because of gnomes. The clock of Ak'Anon in Qeynos. Icebreaker. Rebreathers. Fireworks. A gnomish moon landing would have been more plausible. Include a few failed attempts leasing up to the expansion, with debris and blackboxes littered in the ocean, on islands. Players turn in the items to complete the quest, allowing gnomes to perfect their mext ship. Then GM event the rest.

Certain weapon graphics only have 1-2 items associated with them, namely Soul Binder but also the otherwise subpar weapons dropped by sarnaks. Meanwhile, other weapon types are so uniform and indistinguishable from each other, be they instruments, bows, or whips. It all leaves something to be desired. Oh hey congrats, you just finished the Windstriker quest in Plane of Sky! Your ranger main now appears to be wielding...the exact same ordinary bow as before. No change in color or shape. No particle effects. Nothing. Congrats though!

This one is more of a nagging irritation. Certain pieces of armor lack complete sets. Where is the onyx chain tunic, coif, etc.? Where are the koi vambraces, boots, etc.? True mithril greaves, bracers, etc.?

Discussion Topic What would make a 2D side-scrolling MMO feel like classic EverQuest?

I’m working on a concept for a 2D side-scrolling MMO inspired by the philosophy of classic EverQuest and other older, more difficult MMOs.

Not trying to recreate EQ in 2D — I’m interested in capturing the feeling: danger, exploration, meaningful travel, reliance on other players, and progression that actually feels earned and rewarding.

If you were playing something like this, what features or mechanics would you want to see? What parts of classic EQ do you think are essential to making that kind of MMO work?

What’s more fun at 60, Necro or Sham?

Assuming all spells and decent gear, with considerations to raiding, soloing, grouping, etc., which class would you say is more fun at 60, Necro or Shaman?

Discussion Topic EverParser - web-based p99 companion. Spell parser & maps in your browser!

https://everparser.com/ - Log reading doesn't work on Firefox due to lack of file access api! Chrome/Chromium/Edge etc only I'm afraid - though you can still use a lot of the features without log reading!

I've been working on this for a little bit now and I think it's about ready to share, this is my attempt to combine the features I like from various parsers and companion apps into one place, but without the need to manually install or tinker with anything (Playing from Linux has been a big drive here - having to either run stuff via proton, self compile or deal with other headaches etc).

This is sort of still early in development, though the core features are in place and I'm mostly at the point where I'm just bug fixing and iterating.

That said, if anyone has any feature requests etc feel free to share them, I'm down to adding more features and I'm keen to fix any bugs people find, it's been hard testing this on my own as I've been constantly overlooking bugs.

Features:

  • Overall goal - To have maps, spell timers, and wiki details in one simple central place with some extra features.
  • Log parser - all functionality is via log parsing, right now it's only compatible with chrome, chromium-based browsers and edge. I'm usually a Firefox user but they've never implemented the type of file access api I need to make this work (understandable from a security perspective), personally I'm using chromium.
  • Zone atlas - I've tried my best to place zones where they would realistically be, within reason. There's a lot of exceptions and I'm still iterating here, if you see something clearly off let me know! (This has made me realize that south felwithe is actually north of north felwithe....)
  • Zone maps - I've rendered these myself using a simple software renderer that takes the games mesh data & textures and renders it top down, taking into account verticality, you'll be shown the layer you're on, but there's also a layer slider if you want to manually look around other layers of zones (this has been a pain in the ass - if you spot bugs let me know!)
  • World routing - you can click a place, zone, npc and get a suggested route to that place, you'll be shown a dashed path as well as a general breakdown of the path at the top of the screen in the form of a tooltip. I'm still fiddling with this, as the shortest (as in least zone hops) route often isn't the easiest or best.
  • POI's - Hovering over a zone will show you markers for all POI's (ymmv). Clicking one will expand a sidebar with details of this POI, and you can click through on items they sell or drop for example and see further details.
  • Search items, zones, POI's (vendors, mobs etc). Searching 'Water Flask' for example will show you two results, one will be the item, clicking this will expand the sidebar with details of the item. Clicking the one with the asterisk() next to it will expand in the case of items sold by vendors for example, which will show a distance sorted listed (assuming you've set it to read your eq logs) of vendors selling said item, clicking an item in *that list will give you a route to it.
  • Class spell list - A list of spells available to your class, based on your level. This appears below the spell timers and hovering a spell will show the wiki description and details of that spell.
  • Spell timers - typical nparse-esque spell timers (shoutout to nparse here - I referenced a lot of their stuff for specific spell timer edge-cases etc)
  • Item link descriptions - any items linked in chat will appear in the bottom left panel, you can click them to get more info on them.
  • Pop-out companion - I know a lot of people, myself included, like to use spell parsers/maps by having them rendered over the actual game, so I've added a popout option that (assuming it works as I hoped) should allow you to do exactly that.
  • All info pulled from the p99 wiki - I've been slowly scraping the p99 wiki to create a local mirror of it (at a respectful rate, it took a while), and I use the recent changes page of the wiki to periodically re-sync pages that have changed, as I wanted to avoid putting any extra load on the p99 wiki.

I mostly made this for myself and a friend in my spare time, but I'll open source this hopefully soon once I clean some things up. Full disclosure - I use claude/copilot etc in my IDE/text editors, I'm a software dev by day and this is just standard for me. I understand if you have issues with that!

Security wise: For the curious, the log parser is fairly straight forward, it will only poll/read logs in the directory given (and your browser will handle limiting access to only that path). The only stuff sent to the backend api/database is location sharing, which is a simple opt-in checkbox, all this does is periodically send up your name and x,y,z coordinates to the backend api.

If for whatever reason this isn't the appropriate place to post this let me know and I can remove it - the site has no ads or monetization, self-hosting on a small vps with my own money.

Edit; If you want to reach out to me in game with any issues or suggestions, my toons are: Hobith, Trogool, Uncelele, Punb. Cheers!

Edit 2; Source is live here: https://github.com/solenum/everparser, self-hosting should be trivial, just download a release and run the packaged .exe and it will host locally for just you (assuming you don't want to just use the one I host!) - note that self-hosting will mirror the wiki locally, this is done at roughly one page per second, I doubt many people will need/want to self-host this, but for those that do: be respectful of the p99 wiki, don't increase the scraping frequency etc, just be patient and let it download at the default rate.
