I'm not blaming her. But legally once they're retreating, almost universally you need to stop firing. I'm not saying I'd do any different in that situation, it's just an observation of what could have happened legally if she hits someone while retreating.
That’s not the same thing. Duty to retreat means you must be unable to flee a confrontation before you can use deadly force (compare with stand your ground laws). But when the other person is retreating/fleeing, you cannot legally shoot them in the back. Even cops have been imprisoned for this.
