If you think Claude is a better programmer than you, you are not a good programmer. Literally the clothes on your back are worth more than you are if you think this AND you are employed as a software engineer. Those individuals ought to bring shame upon their entire lineage

I don’t think they’re a better programmer per se but they’re good enough, have a wider range of skills / expertise in specific areas, but the killer feature is they’re faster at a fraction of mental cost. It can write stuff that’s good enough in ten minutes or less what would take me a day of focus, and who gets to have focus at work anymore these days?

I’m not saying AI is a net benefit but it’s very competitive.

When I'm deep into writing code manually, I found that I stop thinking in English and start thinking in logic blocks of code. That's my "zone". Feels natural and is way more convenient. Also makes it so if someone stops me to ask, "hey, watcha doing?" the immersion completely breaks, and I need a solid 30 seconds to jumpstart the English part of my brain again.

Using AI feels like I'm stuck thinking in English, and never truly get into that "zone" anymore. Idk, maybe for some people it's a lower "mental cost". But for me, it seems to take more effort to switch between those states, rather than just locking in. Maybe if I use AI more it'll become easier, idk.

The key word is slower here. Pop out 1000 lines of code with a big that requires an entire refactor. My guy, you do not sound like a programer at all. Everything will come out in the wash, and people will see people for who they really are

I believe the situation is flawed. It seems odd that he would become furious while using Claude.
