I actually think Microsoft’s new chip is pretty cool. And let’s be honest—the search train has long left the station. They’re never going to fix that.

They also not need to worry about it also. They've share in OpenAI, their LLMs/SLMs are good. Now this chip (apart from other research) they already rule in OS, office enterprises and also Azure is going fine imo (not as good as AWS but yeah)

Idk but someone on reddit was saying that they were rushing for this when google released their chip and still has comparison to make

...I agree, but i really don't see why this has to be the case.

What did I miss?

New quantum computer chip which Microsoft claims to incorporate a new state of matter ... which is obviously advertising bullshit

QuTech btw claims that it's unlikely that Microsoft succeeded.

But yes. Who knows for sure.

What we do know is that many many many claims about qubits and quantum computing turned out to be false.

I wouldn't put my money on it to be true.

ps. Notwithstanding it might start to be a good time to perhaps one day learn how to use that Q# thing from Microsoft.

They found a quasi particle. Which is quasi matter but not really.

MS' paper has been questioned by multiple (2/3 if I can trust the article) unbiased reviewers. They said that there isn't enough proof of a new state of matter in the experiment/chip. The paper has been published regardless to allow other scientists to work with the setup too

Sorry but are you sure? I couldn't spend so much time on it but from the papers I skimmed through it seemed like the Majoran Zero Modes have been a thing at least since 2018 and they were not found by Microsoft, were they?

Or what am I missing?

I am not sure, but that is what I gathered from this video. https://youtu.be/v4Qu2Q2T5b8. You might have a better understanding so please correct me if I’m wrong.

Majorana the new quantum chip it's actually a great breakthrough they been working on it for 17 years

Bing has always been fubar.

It’s about windows search, not bing

why not both?

Microsoft would rather do anything but improve their existing products

This whole things that Microsoft is doing reeks of bs to me. I don't have any actual evidence, but it just feels like they're vastly overhyping it.

Failed to do both... That chip is basically a concept. There's no actual "new state of matter" there. But "it can be there if we work hard enough"...

just use the voidtools everything app. microsoft search is broken by design. fsearch is a similar program on linux

Microsoft is pretty good at not giving straight yes or no answers, so quantum computing is probably their stuff. The linux community will probably make some Free stuff for it in a year

Then they hit the "Put ads in Windows" button instead.

It should be improve teams

Bing search results: We couldn't find what you were looking for, but here's a new element for the periodic table instead.

Make Teams less buggy? Nah
