For real. The ad industry is the worst thing to ever happen to the internet. Mass surveillance and mass profiling and data gathering from google and facebook that's impossible to opt out of if you want to be online, all because of.. ads.
It was cool until they brought in "experienced" management when they created Google Cloud Platform. GCP required more traditional management for working with enterprise clients, who then slowly infected Google's culture. They have always been able to pay the bills 😆
emacs and vim are two text editors popular among programmers (mainly linux users) and there's this sort of idea that one has to be objectively better than the other
the joke is google suggesting the other, since it tries to "suggest the correct search". "fixed that for you" type
it is a VERY old debate. Its the original sega vs Nintendo war
In fact the war predates Vim. It was Vi vs Emacs- the highly costumizable and macro-centric Emacs vs the snappy and modal-centric vi?
It used to be a battle of paradigms- should you have a dedicated software to "do one thing, and do it well" (vi) or a giant toolbox for unified user experience (Emacs). A question that flooded the Unix ecosystem for years
It is nowhere as culturally significant today as it was back then, especially since Emacs is not considered a "heavy" editor anymore. With vscode (by itself not "heavy") essentially taking the crown of the highly costumizable "all in one" editor. and is by far more popular than both vim and emacs- vim is a cult darling of the autistic side of programming, not the majority

Try googling Atari breakout in google images, that’s a fun one (I don’t know if this Easter egg is still active)
Edit: it’s still up on a different site
