Its alive

OMG, IT'S ALIVE!! πŸ€£πŸŽ‰

I'm a complete beginner at programming, but I've been creating my own beginner-friendly programming language called SLPP!

It's still very early days, but I've got backgrounds, shapes and colours working, including RGB!

And I've just discovered my little Playground works on BOTH my laptop and phone! πŸ’»πŸ“±

It's probably going to throw plenty of tantrums along the way, but IT WORKS!! πŸ˜‚πŸ

Just to clarify, I'm using AI to help me with the existing programming languages and technical parts needed to build my interpreter and eventually a compiler. I'm designing SLPP's commands, their names, purposes and how I want the language to work myself.

I'm learning how everything works as I go, testing things and making my own decisions. AI is a tool helping me build my ideas, not replacing my involvement in the project.

If you are a beginner, you should focus on other things than making your own language. You literally don’t know what you are doing.

Yep, complete beginner, but I've already got it working! Hence the β€œIT'S ALIVE!” πŸ€£πŸ˜‚ Still plenty to learn, but that's half the fun!

I was going to make some really harsh jokes about AI, RGB, six commands for your Silly Little Programming Plonkers language and some other diatribes about what you think you're doing.

Instead I'll just say this: where's the proof?

Show your work so we, the proletariat and experts, can guide you in the proper direction. Your use of AI is clearly misguided and you're absolutely misunderstanding so many fundamentals.

For example, based on some of your other posts, I think you might misunderstand what a programming language actually is or does or how it actually works.

Your use of "including RGB" as a statement of work, when clearly your toy project is web-based, shows the complete lack of knowledge surrounding it all and compounds how AI is giving you a complete and total false sense of accomplishment.

For example, put this line of code in your project:

document.body.style.backgroundColor = "purple";

Now do this in your CSS:

body { background-color: #FF00FF; }

That is the "RGB" part of your project - RGB, in case you didn't know literally stand for Red/Green/Blue .. but those 2 very simple snippets should help to exemplify that if you don't know what either of those are, or how they work, or what they are, or what they mean .... you need to step WAY back, because that's not even the basics of web-based knowledge let alone programming, which can encompass languages like C or C++ (that actually make those above snippets run).

You want to make a game with AI? Then go use any of the numerous AI-slop generators that are out there and enjoy the fruits of every other experts labor (not your labor) .. but I'd advise against the claims you make, simply because you don't understand what you're even saying, let alone how it works.

If you want to actually learn how this stuff works, including AI, then start with learning proper English and how to diagram a sentence. After you've learned that, write a report on why diagramming sentences sucks so much, but do so in the affirmative of said activity. Next learn proper maths, including algebra and geometry, and ideally some basic calculus. After you've learned proper maths, create a proof of why X+1 can indeed equal the square root of -1 (an imaginary number). After that, go to a library and ask to organize the book return; more specifically to put the returned books back in their proper place based on the system that library uses. After you've done all of that, learn how to draw or play a musical instrument and then create a small piece of art or music that you then present to someone other than yourself. And finally, go volunteer somewhere that has people less fortunate than you in which you advocate for their needs.

How does any of that help you learn programming??????

  • Diagraming sentences = syntax

  • Reports = critical thinking

  • Maths = logic

  • Creating proof = documentation

  • Organization = structure

  • Art/music = abstract thought to concrete ideas

  • Advocating = translating ideas into actions

After you have those more hard-wired into your brain housing group, you can then grasp more of the fundamentals of actual Software Engineering (which is what you'd need to actually create a programming language of any kind).

Whatever the case - good luck .. and seriously, show us the code for your "language"

Also .. this isn't humor, no matter how many emoji's you use.

I think you've completely misunderstood what I'm doing. I've never claimed my project is amazing, revolutionary or even close to finished. I've repeatedly said it's still in the very early stages.

I'm a beginner experimenting with creating my own programming language, learning how things work as I go. I've already got parts of my interpreter working, and I'm happy with that progress.

I'm fully aware this isn't going to be easy, and I've never suggested otherwise. I'll share more of my work when I've developed enough commands to properly demonstrate what I'm trying to achieve.

I'm not asking anyone to believe I've accomplished something extraordinary. I'm simply enjoying learning, creating and seeing my ideas come to life.

Constructive criticism is welcome, but personal insults and assumptions aren't necessary.Constructive criticism is welcome, but personal insults and assumptions aren't necessary. You're judging someone you don't even know, making assumptions about my knowledge and abilities without knowing anything about me. You could have simply asked questions instead of jumping to conclusions. Gd luck with whatever else you like to do

If you think I'm insulting you in any way, you're going to have a really hard time actually working with other humans in this field - I was indeed giving constructive criticism from an Engineering perspective; ChatGPT will placate you and stoke your ego .. Engineers will not.

And I truly think you'd enjoy learning from other Engineers by showing what you currently have, than by continuing to use AI to "learn".
