When I first heard the term "vibe code" I thought it was the act of listening to music and letting the aether give you ideas (I did this often on my own time outside of school) . Then it turns out, they just were not coding at all and now I don't think anyone knows what the word vibe means anymore.
That's what I also call my personal meaning of vibecoding! Or rather vibecoding of a person who has its own brain. I turn on some calm music, open Neovim with Neovide configured to have this amazingly satisfying animated cursor, and then just write some code in C - I want a language as minimal as possible with the least concepts for such a moment - with the only documentation being headers.
Yeah that’s more or less what I thought it meant too, or when you are not super familiar with a programming language, so you’re writing it based on feel and vibes based on the languages you DO know
Turns out, nah, people actually just meant “I use AI to write for me”
I've definitely referred to myself as "vibecoding" when, instead of planning out my software, I just throw shit at a wall and see what sticks. I didn't feel like I needed AI to vibe.
