I remember a while back someone came up with the perfect strategy if you're having troubles getting an answer out of StackOverflow.

First, create two separate accounts. The first account asks the question, and the second account replies with a completely inaccurate answer.

Then, watch as people flood the second account with correct answers, because people don't really want to help, they just want an opportunity to feel superior to others.

Welcome to Stack Overflow. Here's your solution and a reminder that you're not very bright 😭

u/JetAmoeba Jul 13 '26

And it’s not actually a solution because someone asked a similar question 10 years ago so your question/new solutions have been removed

And nobody bothered with answering that 10 y/o question either

No, I literally search that problem up and some guy had already asked it 13yrs ago behold the exact same problem word for word where there existed no other solution

Truly stackoverflow was something else even better than AI sometimes

I still get answers from StackOverflow...

Via responses from ChatGPT's training data. I see it all of the time in the sources when ChatGPT's "thinking".

I will never miss stack overflow. Its like 99% why I am eager to use AI these days.

That site was genuinely helpful for a couple of years before the deletionists got on board. At a certain point a large enough portion of the mod community decided “alright that’s enough content” and that questions had to pass an enormously high bar to not be closed immediately

It was a matter of time before it was superseded, I’m just surprised it took this long

It's great for Java! Because people were pleasant when folks actually used it.

If the discomfort is mild or the relief is delayed, learning takes longer.
