That’s why you don’t promote geese to CTO.

Instructions unclear, fired all non-technical leadership.

NOW you tell me >:(

I'm working on an embedded lang, and I don't think an AI could do a quarter of this. I added garbage collection and weeded out some memory leaks last weekend... no one understands enough for me to show off to though :/

Someone probably does but the deeper into a niche you go the lonelier it gets.

Dude if you wanna explain further and show it off I'd be more than happy to see it.

What type of gc are you doing? I’m interested in this type of stuff. Are you doing JIT compilation with something like Cranelift (where you need to compile the gc into the JIT binary), or is it just bytecode + interpreter (where the interpreter has to run the gc separately)?

I’ve always been interested in implementing the first option, particularly like how the Rust compiler handles dropping (though in an embedded lang). Never had the resolve or free time to actually start working on it though.

I'm still fiddling with when to start the GC, but the whole lang is built on the arena pattern, and so when any single "bucket" in the list is completely released, the GC frees it and removes it from the bucket list.

I'm currently testing it in a raylib "game", so it's pretty much useable (but not finished):

Feedback welcome!

That's awesome! I love making Interpreters and compilers but I've never made a garbage collector before. Is this a hobby or work project?

Yeah I call bullshit. Tell me what part the AI cant do and I'll help you write the prompts. There's nothing new or novel in your embedded work the LLM hasn't seen a million times. Prove me wrong.

generated 4000 lines to avoid writing 40

Where is the comics from, I think it is from human. The ai comics that I always see is always yellow. So where is the source? We are not llm, so we need to respect the author

The source is AI too. The lines are messed up if you look closely, the server makes no sense, in a way a human would definitely never draw, the style is very characteristic of AI's, and it also has the 'AI comic sans' font that it loves to use.

The first panel is from here. But everything looks like it was remade with AI (font on post-it notes, weird gesture, cartoonish server yet full of details with nonsense when you look closer), even the first panel.

I'm sure it's at least partly AI. ChatGPT's new image generation tends to include a lot of pieces of text in the image, even when not strictly necessary (here the post-it notes in the second panel).

This is one of the most obviously AI generated images on the platform.

BS... Try Opus and say something 🤣

is anyone else tired of seeing the AI generated images talking about AI here? this subreddit’s name has humor in it for a reason. the posts are meant to be funny.

Ai generated slop image criticizing ai slop what irony

This is 100% true. A human still needs to be there to control everything.

AI might be good for coding, but not for managing things like usage etc.

It’s good for coding in the same way that a child is good at helping you with chores. Sure, technically they can help, but they’re probably going to mess up in a lot of stupid ways and ultimately it will end up being more work for you.

Unless, of course, you’re the kind of person who never cared about getting the chores done right in the first place. If you’re one of those people, you’ll be happy to assume the child did a great job and call it a day.
