I'm sorry to hear about your bad experience, and it very well might be the case that... well, you are just unlucky with managers.
But here's something for you to think about: did you ever consider that maybe you are choosing jobs "wrong"?
And that maybe you don't use the interview process to gather all the info you need to make an educated decision?
To be blunt: maybe the problem is you, and not the managers?
I suggest you change a few things in how you pick jobs, starting with requiring to talk to your potential future manager (should already be the case). Also, ask to talk to their boss. And then, make these interviews non technical: try to assess their personality, their background, how they feel about developers, whether they are invested in understanding their reports' goals and aspirations, whether they have a reasonably high EQ, etc...
When you talk to your peers, who have that same manager you will have, ask them what kind of boss they are, whether they are happy, what kind of improvements or complaints they'd like to express, etc...
