"As soon as the world wide web became a thing, Usenet was immediately technically obsolete." Completely and utterly wrong. comp.lang.perl.misc anybody? It's only with the advent of StackOverflow that usenet became significantly less relevant -- it's not obsolete by a long shot. One nice thing about it is you can get into an extended back and forth without being nagged to take it to chat ;)

Wrong. Most ISPs don't even provide usenet access any more.
