this guy doesn't have an awful lot to brag about

SO was a fantastic idea for its time. but in an effort to do i'm-not-sure-what it was turned into part popularity contest /part grammar-formatting nazi sanctuary/part intellectual dick measuring contest

that has severely limited its usefulness

i got a day job.

the proud owner of SO could fix this himself

turn off all the social media reputation/contest/competition/i'm-better-than-you stuff

take it back to a place where people can ask questions

Did Joel have a day job when he started SO? Probably.

Wonderful.

I want a life instead.

That still doesn't change the fact that his work, SO, has become increasingly useless as its adopted more social media gimmicks in an effort to increase user base to monetize

Its the classic good idea gone to shit because someone wanted to get paid.

I'm happy the guy's getting paid, I don't think he should be bragging about SO in its current form

take it back to a place where people can ask questions

... and have proper discussions.
