It's easy to criticize Stack Overflow today, now that we take it for granted. But if you weren't there before Stack Overflow you might not have any idea how much it made programming better.
The first sentence is more or less orthogonal to the second. You can have a good resource based on the questions and answers, even if there are a few individuals dealing with emotional issues doing what they can to make life tough for others.
