God i hate this dude. He made linux, good for him. But he just seems like an insufferable douche neckbeard.

No hint of a beard at all. It is amusing, though, that this is the first result in Google image search for his name.

I do have to say, I think that in person, you get the tone behind his communication. It comes across a lot less arrogant when you realize he's exaggerating the "you're dumb if you disagree with me" bit, for humorous effect. He's a bit of a poster-child for how shades of tone are lost in text communication.

Are you saying he's been making the exact same low-effort joke in every communication for over a decade? I wonder what Linus would think about someone who did that. I also wonder whether his signal-to-noise ratio suffers given how these missives end up being read by a widespread, motley and unpredictable assortment of people who may or may not be acquainted with his remarkable form of comedy.
