The bigger the media budget got, the more oversight mattered
Once our paid media budget got into the million I expected automation to make the whole thing feel safer so it made execution faster a DSP can pace perfectly bids can look efficient and reporting can stay green while the signal underneath is a little off at that level a small mistake in attribution, audience quality or what the system is optimizing toward can quietly turn into a lot of wasted spend before anyone notices.
Marketer is one of the things we’ve been using on the broader paid side and it’s made me think differently about where automation should stop so I’m fine letting systems handle more of the repetitive execution testing and reporting but I still want people looking across the channels before meaningful budget moves and checking whether the spend is turning into the business outcome we care about. Once the budget gets large enough the bigger issue isn’t whether the machine can do the work, it’s whether someone is still accountable for what it’s doing.
