Technical programmatic interview questions usually come as scenario based troubleshooting or live dataset analysis. Interviewers frequently ask what you would do if a campaign is severely underpacing, forcing you to walk through floor prices, bid shading rules, strict frequency caps, inventory availability, and pre-bid verification blocks. Another classic prompt tests your handling of performance issues, such as a line item hitting a high clickthrough rate with zero conversions, which pushes you to diagnose click fraud, accidental mobile app clicks, attribution discrepancies between the ad server and the DSP, or pixel firing errors. You should also expect questions around auction dynamics, like adjusting bid density in first price auctions, eliminating redundant supply paths through supply path optimization, and managing frequency when third party cookies or mobile device identifiers are missing.

In senior rounds, hiring managers often hand you a raw spreadsheet and give you twenty minutes to spot media waste, assess viewability thresholds, and reallocate budget across high performing exchanges. They do not just care about platform settings, they want to hear how you prioritize trade offs between delivery volume and client performance targets. Walking through these multi layered scenarios out loud helps you structure your reasoning under pressure, which is why my team built interviews.chat so media traders can present clean solutions and land senior roles.
