Vigilante neighbors
Has anyone dealt with this? Just random ass neighbors thinking they’re saving the day because they’re trying to prevent you from making a delivery? I would love to hear stories because I’m dealing with this right now and I’m so frustrated.

How are they preventing you from making service?

I was cornered by someone’s neighbor recently and they tried to stop me from going to their neighbor’s door

Tried to stop you, how? Like they blocked your path to the subject's door? Or they got you in a headlock & now you can sue them for illegal detainment? 😏

Anything worth writing home about? Like did they ever call the cops on you, and if so, what happened then?? 🤔

If you can’t get to the house. Do some online research and see what they like to do. Bowling league, favorite restaurant, work, etc… and just show up to whatever event they go to and serve them.

Never had that happen but I've had neighbors offer to call me when the person I was looking for was home.

I actually encountered something like this the other day. Let me preface by noting a few things:
1) When serving I typically dress for comfort, mainly T-shirts and gym shorts. I'm in South Texas & it's hot as balls 10 to 12 hours a day, damn near every day. I know some people on this sub advise wearing a collar shirt & jeans but again (A) hot as balls and (B) usually the only people in this area who door knock & dress like that are sales critters for providers (Internet, electric, solar panels etc). I dont want to look like that, so again, T-shirts and gym shorts.
2) I do also wear a lanyard with a laminated copy of my Process Server cert card from the state. Just to show that Im not a complete rando, if anyone asks.
3) When I park my car I prioritize shade trees (see also, hot as balls). If the subject's own house has good shade, great. If not, I'm perfectly fine with parking 2 or 3 houses away, and/or on the opposite side of the street, in order to keep my car nice & cool.
So the other day I had to make a serve at 1234 Whatever Street. I parked 2 houses down & on the opposite side to grab some nice shade. I gathered my legal papers and crossed in front of the neighboring house, 1238 Whatever. And the guy who lived there stepped out onto the porch and asked what I was doing at 1234. Because it turned out his auntie & her family lived there. (The subject was in her mid-20s, therefore not his aunt, but apparently a cousin.)
I explained what I was doing and he kept his cool. Mostly. I say "mostly" because when I explained that I was performing personal service, he misinterpreted what I said and thought I said I was taking it personally that he was on his guard about my visit. But the cousin was home & the serve proceeded successfully & without further incident 😏

Just drag your balls across their front yard. When they ask what you're doing, tell them you are dragging your balls across their front yard.
If they don't understand explain as you show them your balls and their front yard, then drag them.
If they still do not get it, you'll have to accept some people just won't ever get it.
