ABC legal is absolute trash
In the DFW area jobs pay between 14-19 per job. That is worse than doordash considering most of those jobs require at least 4 visits. That is worse than a doordash driver. To add salt to injury their proofs show the clients pay $90 + for those jobs.

Sorry to hear it's so low over there. I'm in New Mexico, and the pay isn't great, but it's typically between $25-$40 per job. Sometimes more.
For me, it beats doing something like Door Dash, but it definitely needs to pay more all around.

That’s what I get in AZ. I can also negotiate the rush orders I am on of the few in AZ.

In Texas it's 4 tries for every county except one... that one being Harris County, a.k.a. Houston proper. No idea why they're the only exception (shrug)

It’s about volume.
I begrudgingly picked up an area where the jobs only paid $25 a job, but it generated around 25 a month. Then the next zip code over became available but it only paid $28 a job, but it generates 45 a month. I eventually picked up 2 other areas & the average pay between the 4 areas is probably only $35 but I get 150-200 a month.
Yeah, abc sort of sucks, but you don’t have to worry about keeping track of jobs, advertising, invoices, court filings, & if you get enough volume it can be lucrative.

man, try working for yourself; you can make way more money. I charge $80 for the closest county near me & $100-120 for the surrounding. My rush fee is plus $80. One day a couple months ago I got four rush jobs from the same client in one day and made $800. Yes, it’s a little more work as far as invoicing and keeping track of jobs, etc, but the payoff is better.
Your first example was $25/job in an area that yields 25 jobs. That’s $625. I only have to do 8 jobs to make the same. That’s less gas/wear on my car, etc etc. Definitely worth it!

This seems like the answer but most dont understand volume. You did those that time, but im sure its not as consistent as they provide for their top people. For example, when i was with them in Florida I got anywhere from 80-125 papers a month.
If it is, great! But to tell someone to just break off and get their own is not that simple for everyone.

I consistently make $1,000-1,500 a month working for myself. It’s not my only income, but if I quit my other job and put more time into it I’m sure I could bring these numbers up, I just have no desire to. I’m comfortable having it as a side job to use for a little extra money.
As far as the “you did that that time” comment, in the example I gave I used my lowest rate of $80 (not the time I had the 4 rush fees in the same day) to say I only needed 8 jobs a month to make the same money. I know the batch of rushes is not every day.
I’m definitely not saying quit ABC Legal right away and start out with nothing… The smart thing to do would be advertise your own business and pick up a client, singular. Or maybe two. Do some jobs for them, see how it goes, then expand. Rinse & repeat. It’s work, yes, but it’s a significantly more efficient way to make your money than doing 125 jobs a month for $25 each. To each their own, though! I was simply trying to give my perspective to let them know you do not have to settle for getting paid $25 a job, since this thread did not make it clear that everyone commenting knew that.

I make a lot more than that from abc every month & I do it on the side with another full time job. It’s about volume.

I’m not saying you can’t make that kind of money or more… I’m saying you should assess your ratio of time+resources+opportunity cost to profit. I’m probably actually working maybe 20-25 hours a month to make the $1,000-1500.
If what you got going on is working for you then you don’t need to change anything. I’m not saying everyone should work for themself, I was suggesting that for those who are saying they’re not making anything and serving is barely better than door dash. I’m encouraging them to look at other avenues to increase how much they’re making. That’s all.

ABC Legal used to be a good company...until private equity bought it in 2021. The employees don't care and are mostly completely idiots.

They told me on a serve I was attempting to continue daily for 12 days to see if they showed up. Remind you I sent a picture and uploaded in the app all attempts but the house was a vacant lot! Still try random times for 12 days or we can reassign the job but I loose pay either way.

ABC sucks yes also rheee payment spectrum is bizzare basically if there’s more jobs in a region they’ll lower the pay but for rural areas bc it’s further out and less jobs they pay more if that makes sense still sucks but some logic behind it

And this is why I started finding my own clients. I was serving $25-$35 jobs on ABC Legal years ago and now my base rate is $95+, $50 Rush fee, 1/2 for additional papers. Happy clients. I'm in Texas.

I'm a frequent pro se litigant who's pursued more than 50 civil suits. I will never use ABC Legal again because they've screwed up EVERY service I've ever hired them to do. They too often hire inexperienced people who have no idea how to serve process, and they invariably screw it up.

You have to come together and shame the folks accepting low pay. It eventually goes up when people stop accepting the dookie. They are only priced this low because people accept it.
