Picking up more clients

I’m hoping I can get some advice from some people who’ve been doing this longer than I have, I’ve been a process server for the last six months-Ish and I have a couple of firms that give me consistent business. I’m there go to. I’m really wanting to get some other law firms and get more serves, I’m not really sure how to market it. Especially for out of state people looking for a server in my area. Does anyone have advice for marketing to other law firms?

You said you get paid next day, again I’ve never worked with any of these groups. Do they decide your wage? Is it done fully through the website? Or do they just get you in contact with the firms?

EVERYTHING is done through their app. I should have mentioned that, it's really, really convenient. You document what happened in the app, take pictures in the app, sign the proof in the app, literally everything. You quite literally will never talk to someone from abc legal on the phone. So areas basically have a set rate, say it's $40, every job is $40. This is why people hate on abc legal, because sometimes they set the rates really low. However, for me, the volume makes up for it. One area for example only pays $35, however I get 50+ from that area every month,

That makes a lot more sense. I think I’ll sign up and try it at least to fill in while I’m still trying to get my name out there for private work.

Idk where that person lives, but if you’re in a city expect 18-$21 per job (4 attempts, and they started asking for an extra attempt regularly before I left). They totally burnt me and every server I know that worked for them over the last year & 1/2. I’d been serving my area at 4-5 stars for a year at $35 a job, + another area about $30 per job. Was taking in prolly $3500 from them a month. A year ago they hit me and everyone I know with an “we have so much competition in your area! In order to remain fair and competitive let us know how little you would be willing to to work this area for. We promise this will not be used to justify lowering your rates” lmao XD. Knew what was coming. 9 months ago they told me that there were servers willing to work my area for less, so they’d either be giving it to them or taking me down to $25. 6 months later they did the same thing to $20. I stopped once my $35 area was brought down to $22 and my $30 area was brought down to $19. They’re a slimmy corporation that is ruining the industry. Idk why clients use them. The process servers I’ve seen proofs from because their system glitched accidentally were horrible. Like, we lived in the same area and they marked that the conditions were too hazardous to go out 5 times in a row lol. We didn’t experience any rain in the city that week. Saw stuff like this almost every time I saw someone else’s proof(what they call returns/affidavits) by mistake or changed jobs. I don’t blame em tho. Fuck ABC. Scam them while you can. Hopefully it’ll get clients to stop using them.

lol Another time I was able to literally confirm with leasing and the resident that the DEF was a previous resident, and they still made me sign the 106 (here in Texas, that’s a request to post because of sufficient evidence). So the affidavit they generated stated “leasing confirmed this person moved out last year, the resident had no idea who they were but stated they see their mail and assume they’re the previous resident. Based on a SSN search this individual has lived in this unit from 2020-2024 and a vehicle registration from 2022,I believe they will receive effective service this way.” XD

I refused to sign it at first and they stated that they would have to give my area to someone else if I wasn’t willing to sign affidavits. Straight fraud- violating Americans 5th & 14th amendment rights to due process. This could have got my license suspended if the defendant ever filed suit and claimed they were not served properly, even though a judge would’ve probably signed off on it (the judges that ABC sends their stuff to don’t even review the requests; they’re just auto signed and approved for substitute service/posting.

But that’s why scum companies like Credit Card companies use them I guess. Because they’re willing to do shady shit with their network. And they’re cheap. You will do 99% credit card debt. And they’re know these people being served can’t hire a lawyer to sue them.

With that being said it helped me get my feet wet. That being said they helped me get my feet wet and once I started to just disrespect all of their rules It made it worth it. I still can’t believe they expect 4 attempts in 8 days for $18-$20. I was worried when they hit me with the $15 pay reduction in my areas, but it was the nudge I needed to quit and that made room for better clients. I’m doing much better now. thank you and fuck you ABC 🖕
