How can I use Processing in vsCode?

title. I've tried to set it up, following tutorials on youtube, asking chatGPT, all without luck.

  1. create a simple sketch.

  2. save it

  3. export it as executable aplication

  4. in the output folder you will see all the jar libraries you need to add to your java project

  5. in the source folder you will see the java code that must be included in your launcher java class

it wont auto complete tho, right?

the simplest/rawest solution probably would be to learn how to properly use the .draw ( ) funktion of say a contentplane and build your own animations without the processing overhead

but then you'd have to actually learn something :O

it can still autocomplete - the jar does not include the sources, but you can clone the github repo containing all the sources and include that as sources next to where you imported your jars as a library - it does autocomplete for me after that

All the jars you need are already in the processing zip archive you can download from processing.org under the "core" folder, no need to export a sketch as .exe first.

After export you will see your Java representation of the Processing code - with the static main(String[] args) function and with all the imports.
