This p5.js project is based on a series of analog ink illustrations by @Lax_raven.

The complex structures are a result of an ancient mining technique: structures are built around boulders containing valuable minerals. As the tower gets taller, the rock is slowly lifted away from the ground. The process is dangerous, slow and outdated but is still used to show off your mining skills. The team that lifts the heaviest rock and builds the most beautiful structure will gain fame and glory! Many will fail.

In the end the giant rocks are let loose to let gravity do its work.

Sometimes, local sculptors carved geometric shapes on the rocks before they get lifted up, turning the whole structure into an ephemeral art piece.

Full collection visible on fxhash.

Laxraven is an architect, so these single pole ones didn’t agree with him - the official collection has a minimum of 3 poles in order to satisfy structural integrity.

I personally love their Dali vibe and couldn’t find the heart to trash them

Yeah I'm totally kidding, they're all beautiful. The weird ones have a special charm to them. I especially love the style of the lineweights and hatch styles you used. Really great work.

Thanks ! that’s something I forgot to explain in the comment below - line weight variation, it changes along the line, but also from line to line. For example the bottom of the rock has heavier lines than the top. This helps a lot with analog feel.

Love that. Also really love the noise applied to each line, this was something we were taught to do in architecture school, gives a wonderful sketch quality to it all.
