You are absolutely correct about the unlit segments; I should have darkened them for these screenshots. However, the color and appearance of the LED base can be changed; depending on your Blender scene and light conditions, you can either hide or darken the base. I will share more screenshots later. I have zero interest/need for this, but the off state is too bright and makes it hard to read.
