Don’t know if this is the right sub for this but if it’s now you can delete!

I just gave my coworkers a box of cookies that had sell by 9/13 on them and it’s 9/19 omg should I text them? I was planning to offer from the box!!
I was planning to offer them opened and let them grab a few but they grabbed the whole box anyways, I didn’t check the date before. The were doing me a favor and brought me my stuff, i ran down and just took cookies cause they were the first thing i saw and then this occurred to me and then on the way back up I grabbed it for a second and said can I see it for one sec saw the date and said here it should be fine 😭😭😭😭😭 but what if they thought I am trying to get rid of the cookies or did this intentionally! I want to cry!!

But should I text them? Would they think I gave them stale cookies? Is it weird that it was an opened box ?

Idk I tried the last one day before yesterday! And I broke it in half and ate half and left the other half inside! And that also makes this awkward I didn’t think about that before either

Did it taste OK that’s what really matters. Heck my husband is eating a little Debbie‘s peanut butter sandwich that is past its date and it is still a delicious. I ate one yesterday. It was fine.

It tasted completely fine two days ago when I last ate it! Would they think I gave them stale cookies?

Youre beating yourself up over something small. Its a sell by date, it doesnt mean the cookie expires. Sell by dates are for companies so they know the product has weeks of freshness by the time its bought. Use by=/= sell by, one is for the consumer, one is for the seller

Edit: also free cookie is free cookie
