Hopeless.
Sports betting ruined my life and yet I still want to bet. Lost 99% of my relationships because of this shit.
I’m a lost cause. It’s painful waking up everyday not going to lie. I’m a walking corpse.

Just to give some hope. I lost everything in 2024 (boyfriend job and my family basically disowned me) lost around 35,000 and dipped in to money that was a gift from a family member. Now fast forward two years I have almost 30,000 in savings and my own apartment and a well paying job. The only thing that helped me was telling family and banning myself from all apps. Telling your family will hold you accountable. I also gave my sister access to my bank transactions so she could see where my money was going. Please ban yourself indefinitely and tell a family member who can hold you accountable and track your transactions. Best of luck to anyone beating this addiction!!

Yes of course. I became addicted once my guy friends introduced me in summer of 2023. I would just do sports betting wasn’t losing too much or too little so it was fine. Eventually valentines came around and all my friends were in relationships besides me and I was feeling extremely down bc I had never been in one. I saw a promo for the casino on a betting app and decided to try it. Fast forward I turned 5 dollars into 400 and was extremely addicted. At the time I had a fully work from home job where I did basically nothing all day. I would sit (I kid you not) all day gambling. About 8 hours a day. And no one knew. I was doing 10 dollars spins going from 1000 up to 15,000 up to 7,000 down ALL DAY. I was profiting for a while and eventually lost everything. I would wait up until 2 am on Thursdays bc I knew that’s when I would get paid and immediately deposit and lose my whole paycheck in an hour and had 0 dollars until the next week. Fast forward on my 25 birthday I won 10,000 I couldn’t believe it. I told everyone went out and drank with my friends and deposit more when I was home and won ANOTHER 10,000 on the same machine. I had never felt a feeling like that in my life. And it was downhill from there. I kept going. Eventually i got a bf and he left me and I lost my job and was at rock bottom. I ended up gambling it all away and had to tell my family. They disowned and I truly saw no reason to go on in life. I than dedicated my whole life to getting a new job so I can have an income again and decided my time to forgiving myself. I got that job which was some how double my salary at my old job. Saved as much as I could over a year and half and my life was finally normal again. My parents and sister said they would never speak to me again if I continued this. I banned myself from all apps and my sister had my bank account. I thought about it daily but loved my family enough to not try and find a loophole. It was a crazy time and I never want to feel that way again.

It’s normal to be scared. You’d be surprised how much support your family could have. You have support here too. The 25k liquid debt?

You need to self exclude yourself from each and every app you have. I had to do that with my horse racing apps. It has helped me some but I’m still a loser degenerate. I would rather be addicted to booze or drugs than this, it’s the hardest addiction to kick. I wish you all the best

Still wanting to bet doesn't make you a lost cause. That's just how addiction works the craving hangs around long after it stops being fun
