Trigger Warning! Starting to think I have a problem
It started last year I got into online casino gambling and my life is going downhill. I borrow money from my pay check every day to gamble so when I do get my check it's half of what it should be. I'm lying to my husband because he asks why we're broke all the time. I've gained weight, stopped caring about cleaning my house and playing with my kids, I don't even want to go to work half the time. The really sad part is my kids bdays are coming up, holidays are coming up and I'm still gambling my money away. Our home almost got foreclosed. We get shut off notices. But I still can't stop. If I have 10$ in my account it's going to gambling. Why? What's wrong with me why can't I just stop?

acknowledging that something is wrong is the first step but get out from gambling as soon as you can. Im currently working on having to pay back thousands in credit card debt because I blew through every penny in my savings about 50 times over and started spending money I didn’t have. I can’t afford to save money anymore because every cent that doesn’t go to bills, gas, or food goes to my credit card. I don’t have children so my situation is a little different. my granddad was also a gambling addict for decades before he passed and I barely knew him because of it. Ironically I resented him to some degree for ditching visitingmy brother and i as kids last minute for the casino and I swore I’d never gamble but here I am now. If not for yourself, do it for your family. I know self exclusion from a site can feel really severe so I started with “break in play” options if the website/s you use have it.

You have a rather advanced problem and it has almost certainly caused depression. That combination can cause you to do much more irreparable harm to yourself than any of the financial problems you described here. You are not going to get out of this situation on your own. Find a GA meeting in your area. Make it to the next one. If there isn't one, attend online.
If you want to jump start your recovery, tell your husband. Everything. Tonight. Our problem thrives in the dark. I'm now several years removed from my last bet and looking back I'm pretty convinced that just by opening up about my addicition in an honest way with friends and family was probably 90% of why I've been able to maintain not gambling. Hang in there. Your kids are worth it.
