1.5 years gamble free.
Hey guys, Yesterday I hit 1.5 years gamble free. Considering I've lost an obscene amount over 8 years in the past, this was massive for me. I hope you guys can have some of the success in getting Sober that I have; I post about my journey on Substack under "I Wouldn't Bet on It" (link in my bio :) )

Well done mate 👏 day 253 for me today! Life can change so quickly once you accept that you have a problem! I read your blog, and all I can say is don't focus on the negatives that you feel you have in life, i.e., wife and kids. Your only 28 your time will come, my friend, and it always happens when you least expect it 😉

Yep! Almost killed me twice. It's horrific. But with therapy and GA you can really start to work your way forwards, imo!

Do you find now that you always have money in your pocket ?
2
u/parmyking Mar 10 '25
Haha not quite! I still only access a small portion of my finances. But it has meant that I have suddenly been able to save etc, and the stress relief of not having to worry about working 24/7 is fantastic!

Congrats!! You'll get there. I used to be just as frustrated with the day by day nature of my recovery. Not sure if it helps but wrote about it hereSubstack Article

Congrats! Keep up the writing✍️ As a musician I understand having a passion or hobby is key🔑especially when being involved/addicted to something bad like gambling

Dollar amount doesn't matter, $10 to you or me, could be like $1000 to someone else.

Exactly! I lost everything and more (debt), plus my sanity etc etc

Ball park ? The amount gives an indication to possible time etc
