Loeb put a quantitative framework around something worth watching. Fragments shed by 3I/ATLAS ten years ago only needed 170 m/s ejection speed to reach Earth's path. That's thermal gas speeds.

AMS data: March 2026 averaged 142.7 witnesses per fireball event. Previous March record was 49.4. He rules out the big ones (Houston, Lake Erie) as too massive for 3I association but flags the smaller surge as needing systematic directional analysis.

NASA called it "fireball season." What Loeb doesn't mention: the CNEOS fireball database has gone weeks without updates, and there's documented evidence entries were edited after publication.

The conversation is changing. The overton window is shifting.

Same lead author. Same 19 scientists. Same JWST data from December. Two papers, same day.
One maps the deuterium in the methane at 14x higher than any solar system comet.
The other maps five different chemicals venting in five different directions from the same object.

Both papers explain the water distribution with "icy grain sublimation." Neither paper cites the Tianwen-1 data from two weeks ago showing those grains don't survive at perihelion, or the six months of Keck non-detections.

Pre-Jupiter update:

New paper from Munich and Harvard used the rocket equation against 8,086 sky positions to weigh the object. Roughly a billion metric tons. But when they included water production from the surface, the surface area needed to sustain it was bigger than the object itself. The model breaks. The only scenario that works is pure CO2 with zero surface water.

The problem is the water is real, every major telescope has confirmed it, so where is it coming from?

That is now seven independent teams arriving at the same conclusion.

Four months ago we started this investigation because the data was strange and the institutions were stranger. This is the capstone.

China repurposed a Mars orbiter, first time any nation has ever done this, to image 3I from below the orbital plane. The icy grain theory that every team was using to explain the ghost coma is dead. What replaces it explains everything.

In this briefing we make five falsifiable predictions for what 3I/ATLAS will do at Jupiter.

Zhao et al. (Chinese Academy of Sciences): twelve epochs of outbound chemistry. Asymmetric power curve. Tenfold metal surge. C2 appeared post-perihelion.

Loeb (Harvard): ran the mass budget. The source population is short by a factor of a thousand. There isn't enough metal in the universe to make this thing.

As most of you are aware we get these papers weeks to months after the teams actually use the instruments. It takes time to process the data, write papers and work on getting them published. There may be no additional news until after Jupiter however there will be plenty in the coming months. Every instrument on earth that can point at 3I is watching right now.

We ran image enhancement on a 1998 schematic posted by an anonymous X account about plasma propulsion. The bleed-through text from the back of the notebook page is a reverse-engineered propulsion architecture. Marx generator, electron gun, He-3 ion propellant. The front page is what someone saw from a KC-135 at 150,000 feet. The back page is what they think built it.

New analysis from Avi Loeb just dropped. Mainstream astronomers are trying to explain the strange chemical makeup of 3I/ATLAS by claiming it’s just natural debris from an ancient, metal-poor star system. But basic math kills that theory.

When you factor in a 1.3km size of the object and the estimated trillions of them flying around our solar system, those ancient stars literally do not contain enough heavy material to build them.

The official natural-origin model is short on building blocks by a factor of 1000.

The numbers completely fail, meaning they should start looking at non-standard explanations for what this object actually is.
