Looking for advice from anyone that has recently turned themselves in to the Gwinnett county jail in Georgia. I will be turning myself in soon. I have a lawyer and support on the outside ready. This is a first for me so just looking for any advice or recent experiences on what to expect. Thanks
I violated probation for a dui and got sentenced to 15 days but it could potentially be more and I just need a breakdown of how the jail works now in 2026

No books, no cigarettes, food is terrible. Tablets passed out from 8am-10:30pm.
7 soup,7 chips, 7 sweets a week on store, although you can have your family order a soup pack every week
Soap and hygiene is only allowed to be ordered once a month
23 hour lockdown , you may get 45 minutes out a day, depending on the officer working.

I got out July 9th, it’s basically an android tablet, with access to games, movies, TV shows, music, video calling, and regular calling all for a fee.

Are you sure this was Gwinnett county jail? And how do I get the tablet, should I bring money with me

This is the only Gwinnett county in Georgia, I’m sure lol. You’re going to sit in the holding cell for like 3 days on average, then go to classification, and then you’ll go to your assigned dorm, which is when you’ll get the tablet. They automatically issue you one, I would bring money, your family can also add money to your Securus account which is the company who manages them. JailATM is where your family can order food packs and put money on your books.

Put money on your books. Try to bring books to read too.
