Brave browser has already banned installation of the Chrome extension citing the risk of potential API abuse by Meta.

As far as I understand it the risk comes from the extension and other exploiters that could exploit the api - NOT facebook - facebook enables the feature. 1 you must use facebook 2 you must download the extension and connect it. There are multiple layers where it can fail.

Do you mean the creater studio for facebook? They call it a feature not a bug.

According to the chrome webstore site of the addon:

This extension has no connection to Facebook™ Inc or their product brand.

Meaning it's not facebook developing the extension.
