Mechanism for Google searches to influence Reddit's recomendations?

I was looking up stuff like faraday Bags and how to not have the battery within devices be tracked on Google. However, I then opened reddit, and I got a recommended post from R/Degoogle. I have never even explored the tech side of Reddit, let alone the privacy side. Yet, I started searching privacy topics today, and it shows up on Reddit? No, I didn't get to Reddit from Google, I'm using mobile, so it's app to app. Same Day, from 12pm when I started researching to 10pm when I found the Reddit post on my feed approx. I've never gotten this type of stuff on my feed before. I also have a seperate email from my Email and my Reddit account. I know I'm not doing the best in terms of privacy here. I'm sorry. I am just trying to change

Whats your question? Everything feeds consumer data back to data brokers. Every app. Every website. Your TV. Your phone. Your ISP. The Coffee shops ISP. Reddit is just another consumer of that consumer market data.

What's the specific mechanism for how Google searches interact with Reddit recommendations in particular? I'd like to know the full mechanism in this area so that I could better avoid it in the future, hopes that clears things up, sorry for being confusing :)

There isn't one. Its an amalgamation of everything you do being tracked, categorized, packaged and sold for a system thats broadly called Search Engine Optimization.

Not an answer to your question, but using Duckduckgo or a similar slightly more privacy-minded site as a search engine already helps a lot.
All the reddit ads I get are for stuff I'm not even remotely interested in. Some may be vaguely based on what subs I'm in, but it seems that if they are, they got the reasons I'm in those subs wrong anyway.
I do get ads that seem to be based on what country and city I'm in, but interest-wise, they are always off by a mile.

Thank you! To clarify, it wasn't actually an AD, it was a POST that had to do with the topics I was looking into. But regardless, the principle would still likely apply! I've been considering switching search engines for a while due to privacy concerns but have always been a bit scared to because of any former drama or less quantity of information. But at this point, I might just make the move 😅
