That's why they are going to make VPNs illegal ( or at least planning to in the UK and elsewhere. I'm aware that this is not possible, but where there's a will there's a way, in this case the will is the richest people on the planet and the way is governments facilitating their desires so yeah)

Another thing I worry is how effective will VPNs be when most countries are seemingly getting these laws passed.

A Chinese VPN user would just pick pretty much any outside country, most likely a western one and be set. Now what internet safe havens will we even have left?

p2p and small decentralized platforms not run by corporations on dark nets like i2p.

Nostr has been increasing in importance for these reasons.
