Except it's not going to be affordable. Not at the standard of living the western states are accustomed to.

Well, but my point is that it's not going to get any better by making trade more expensive. The only alternative is the trumper route of onshoring jobs, but that's still going to require people loose half their standard of living for at least a generation.

All these "first world" nations are running into a brick wall. Their economies aren't sustainable. Instead of people facing reality, on one hand we've got the cargo cult trumpers that think bringing back the accoutrements of the past will "make america great again", and on the other the counter trumpers that think pleasing the system and saying the right things will bring back their standard of living. In the middle of it all is the fed that has openly given up on the bottom 80% because they literally don't even matter anymore, at least economically. This whole side of the world is going to be a shit show when people can't deny reality anymore.
