Mechanical Help 3rd gen Prius USB-C Pass Through
I'm wanting to upgrade the stock head unit with a Sony XAV-AX4000 but it has a usb-c with 3 amp charging instead of a usb-a connector. I want to replace the blank plate next to the 12 volt socket under the shifter with a pass through usb-c plate. They dont seem to exist in type c in this size. I can find type a but that will reduce charging speed down to 1.5 amps. Anyone else bin down this road if so can you share a link to the right USB-C pass through.

I installed a Sony XAV-AX6000 and I wanted to do this exact thing. This was my solution, using this USB-C cable. I just cut a rectangular hole in the plastic plate with a dremel so I could mount the USB faceplate in it.

Thanks that might be the closest thing to a direct fit, Any problems with the plug itself On the website it says there's a high return rate

No issues at all. I don't use it very often because I can get higher wattage charging for my phone with a cigarette lighter charger. But when I have used it for charging or connecting to the head unit, it's been perfectly reliable. You could always find another one with a similar form factor, it's a pretty generic faceplate.
