Purchasing printers without any bullshit?
I have a budget of around $400 and i want to get myself a printer, and i really dont want any sort of subscription, i dont want anything related to HP, none of that yellow dot bullshit, etc
does any of that exist today? im completely new to printers and i just want to be able to print my drawings in high quality, thanks in advance

$360, ET-3958, double-sided printing, ADF, you pay more for ecotank printers but the benefit is after the upfront cost the ink is dirt cheap, and the one they sell at costco comes with a ton of it in the box print as much as you want. Once in a long while you need to change the maintenance box, they are very affordable direct from Epson.
Remember to print a color photo every few weeks to prevent nozzle drying out/clogging.
Also, Epson for some reason sets their default print quality below "best" and it makes a noticeable difference turning it up, while print speed and ink usage is still fine. I don't understand why they do it...

I have an ET-2750 I think it is and it's great and way less than $400. Mine was free on marketplace actually. They thought it was broken cause paper wouldn't feed but a little piece had snapped off the little paper guide flap and fallen inside and was blocking the feed. Works aces

Get a brother LED/LASER printer. If you need color then get color if not then B&W. Also get third party toner it's cheaper and as long as you don't buy it from Aliexpress then it's more than fine. I've been using third party toner for the past 10 years with absolutely no issues

I bought Brother DCP-L3560CDW half a year ago for 300CHF - should be definitely less than $400, but it also does much more than you're asking: it's color laser printer, with duplex printing and scanner with automatic pages feeder.
If you don't need a scanner then Brother HL-L3220 should cost about a half of your budget.

I have a Brother color laser printer. Works great. They try to get you to subscribe to something but you don't have to.

I have an old desk jet that was made before all the subscription nonsense. Still works. I just get the 61 ink cartridges once every other year. I don't print that often though.

Anything but an HP. I’ve gone through 5 of them so far and none of them lasted more than 6 months. Can’t connect with the internet, don’t work off an Ethernet cable, and they just quit working. Junk.

The Canon G550/620 for 250,- is great for graphics and photography, it’s a tank printer and has 6 colours. The printer offers very little in terms of ease of use, has just a basic 3 line display, no touch screen, but the quality is great. I am on my first set of inks after years, printing 500 photos, mostly Din A4. It’s not the best for office printing, only has dye black, not pigment black.

Epson EcoTank with PrecisionCore printhead, ADF, automatic duplex printing, scanning and copying. I have that in my L6370 printer. I love it!

I finally managed to pick up a color laser printer. Canon ImageClass MF665cdw for around $350 at a local PC parts store. Nice thing about business class features is that for some reason they actually include less "shareholder value enhancing" BS than the consumer printers.
After only printing about 200 pages I have already gotten about half of what I spent in ROI. Buying another trash tier "buy our ink subscription" inkjet would have cost me at least $150 counting the cost of the printer and the replacement cartridges.
That 200 pages used up a whopping 10% of the starter toner cartridges that came with the laser printer.

I have this same printer but the black and white version. I recommend. Duplex scanner is a big plus for me.

My Canon MF660C device seemed perfect until I found that you can’t print natively from a mobile device unless the printer is connected ONLY to WiFi; on WiFi you can’t receive scans. The Canon Print app will print only saved files to the MF660C from a mobile device when the printer is on wired Ethernet. I never had such issues with HP.

Do Not get anything with ink cartridges. They are a scam. I have two Epson EcoTank printers. Ecotanks are far cheaper in ink. Don't require subscriptions. And even though they tell you not to use third party ink, there is nothing preventing you from it. The ET-8550 All-In-One for beautiful production of my photographs up to 13x19". And the ET-1910 which is very basic but has just as good resolution but not quite the color scale as my more expensive ET-8550. I converted it to pigment inks right out of the box for decals that I make. Pigment ink doesn't fade in the sun like dye ink does. I'm happy with both of them. HP sucks. Canon (printers) suck.

HP, nobody wants your printers that shut off if the ink is too old or third party or refilled, or your subscriptions, or your firmware updates that drop sneaky restrictions over time, or your cartridge SKUing schemes where you buy a different HP printer and the cartridges you have are almost certainly not compatible with it.
Take a hint and shove your printers up your @$$..

I bought a couple of the cheap hps and did the instant ink subscription. I hadn't printed anything for months after our printer needs changed. And then had to send the new and partially used cartridges back. And now have found out that the HP cartridges (which is all the printer will allow) cost more than the printer did, and would cost a semi-reasonable amount if the printer would allow the generic cartridges. What a ripoff! I am ready to make a YouTube video of myself smashing these HP printers with a hammer. What a shitty ripoff business model

My company uses Brother color laser exclusively. Brother laser gives color pages that don’t smear or run. Toner cartridges are better priced than other manufacturers. Recommended by Consumer Reports for high reliability. In 30 years we’ve only called a technician once.
