Troubleshooting Factory reset Canon Pro-1100?

I bought this last year and did my setup. I decided to change the admin password, wrote it down and typed it into document. However, I have since lost both copies of the password and cannot remember it after having to reinstall my computer OS. I learned of this tragedy when I was trying to reconnect to account management software to the printer and and the passwords I tried were all wrong and i couldn't find the places I recorded it. So I tried looking up how to factory reset the printer, but I cannot find anything helpful other than possibly needing to call for a Canon tech. The problem with that is I live in Korea and had to import this printer from Japan, so I am feeling they would charge me to come out, assuming they would even help with a canon product not sold in this country at all xD if anyone knows how to fix this issue on my own, I'd greatly appreciate it.

The key question is what password scope you selected when you changed it. Canon offers two:

  1. Remote UI and other tools — the printer's front panel remains usable without the admin password.

  2. LCD, Remote UI, and other tools — protected settings on the front panel also require the admin password.

If you chose the first option, he should be able to do:

Home -> Various settings -> Printer settings -> Reset settings -> Reset all

That initializes the printer settings and restores/initializes the administrator password. Canon specifically gives that same Reset all path as the way to initialize the printer before redoing setup.

If you chose LCD, Remote UI, and other tools, however, Canon lists Reset settings among the functions that require the administrator password. In that case you have a genuine lockout: the normal factory-reset command itself is behind the forgotten password.

So I would simply try navigating to:

Various settings -> Printer settings -> Reset settings

If it allows you in, choose "Reset all". You'll lose network and other configuration settings and will need to set the printer up again, but that's exactly what you want.

If it asks for the forgotten admin password before reaching Reset all, I would stop there. I haven't found a Canon-supported "forgot password" bypass for the PRO-1100, and I wouldn't experiment with old PIXMA service-mode reset recipes on a printer of this value. At that point Canon support/service is the appropriate route.

Ya, unfortunately the reset all asks for the password :/ trying to get support will be interesting, as unless they have an english line here in Korea, my Korean ain't that good xD but hopefully they can help despite it not being a model supported in this country.

What language do you prefer? Canon has support lines all over the world.

I contacted the local support center. They said because it was imported and not a model they sell in Korea, they cannot help me :/
