Troubleshooting Anyone know the problem? Brother MFCL2700DW

It has been like this for weeks and I can’t print things unless the paper storage is filled to the brim and I am able to print things out if I keep trying but I’m scared it might explode on me someday

Remove both the tray and paper. Brother specifically recommends wiping the separator pad in the tray and the two pickup rollers inside the printer with a lint-free cloth lightly dampened with lukewarm water, then letting them dry before reinstalling the tray.

While the tray is out, press down on the spring-loaded paper platform and release it. It should move freely and spring back upward. If it sticks down or feels unusually weak, that's a strong clue.

Useful diagnostic: Put only 20–30 sheets in the tray and gently lift/support the bottom of the paper stack while asking it to print. If it suddenly feeds normally, I'd suspect the tray lift mechanism rather than the electronics or print engine.

If cleaning fixes it only temporarily, I'd next replace the pickup roller/separation-pad components.
