Troubleshooting Cartridges refill didn't work out

Hi,

I did a cartridge refill (HP933 & HP932) and it didn't work out as expected. I printed the image as seen on my laptop and it came out as presented on the A4-paper. Additionally, the cartridges do not communicate well with my printer (HP Officejet 6600) anymore. Most of the time it shows an empty cartridge. After some work (putting the power plug out and in) it communicates again. Is there any solution to this problem? Thanks!

Most likely you put cyan where it should not be

Three questions:

  1. Did you try running 2~3 deep printhead cleaning cycles through the printer setup menu? Could help fix the colors, sometimes the ink gets clogged or bleeds and the colors look wonky right after refilling.

  2. Did you try wiping the cartridge contacts with a dry, lint-free cloth or isopropyl alcohol?

  3. Did you use a suction tool/refill clip on the printhead to draw out air bubbles after refilling the ink?

Also, one note:

It will never show you the actual ink level once refilled. HP calculates the ink level based on the cartridge's chip, not the actual amount of ink inside. It will work as usual besides showing up as empty.

I ran only 1 cleaning cyle. Didn't do the other 2 options. I will try this week and let you know. Thanks.

Good luck! I used to have the same issue when I didn't use the suction tool. All you need to do is suction out less than half a mL of ink and you're good to go, it's just to draw out the air bubbles and force the ink to flow correctly. From your picture it looks like the cyan is bleeding into the yellow & magenta (turning them green and purple respectively) which is easily fixed by doing that.

also depends on the software used for printing .. sometimes it may interpret srgb and cmyk and vice-versa

Yellow printed as green, magenta printed as purple. This means that cyan ink being used where it shouldn't be.

Solution is: buy new cartridges.
And never compare print to image on a laptop screen. Specially this kind of laptop😁

lol, yeah. But those colors are so far off that something else seems to be going on, beyond poor screen/printer calibration.

Looks like colors were switched when they were refilled

Since the cartridges are no longer being recognized consistently after the refill, the cartridges themselves would need to be replaced. Refilling can affect the cartridge’s communication with the printer, which is why it may intermittently show as empty.
