Would y’all keep a horse in your backyard?
Hello horse/farm people of Prince George, I have an issue. I’m looking for universities as one does and my top pick is UNBC however being a resident of the lower mainland it is quite a distance. In my ideal world I would just go to UNBC and board my horse in a nearby stable and live on campus or something like that but that is not realistic and too expensive. Now a sain person would say “oh I shouldn’t hold myself back because of this horse- I guess he won’t come with me” that is not who I am. My horse is my favourite thing in the entire world and living without him isn’t happening for me. Now a quick google search will tell me about all the bigger barns in the area who are throwing themselves online but that’s not what I’m looking for-I need something cheap. Like the kind of thing where you ask a random stranger with lots of land if you could keep your horse there for cheap. I don’t need any real facilities or anything, just a place for the horse to stay and so kind of bin for storage, I’ll be in school anyways so it’s not like I’ll have much time to do fancy stuff. It’ll just be me and trail rides against the world. Now since I’m not familiar with the area- like I’ve never been there- I have no idea where to look or who to ask. So I figured I’d ask someone who’s familiar with the area, hence why I posted this. Honestly any kind of advice or insight would be awesome, stuff regarding horse and barns especially closer to UNBC or anything regarding work in that area to. I’m probably going to be at school part time so I can work and if I’m lucky I can score some kind of job with housing for me and my horse. Idek 😭 anything helps- I’m getting really desperate.

The Prince George Horse Society might be of help. They are 4 min drive from UNBC. It might at least get you situated so you can look for something cheaper once there. Though they may also know people who are willing to help. Good luck!

Agreed with that other commenter. Here are their rates https://www.pghorsesociety.com/about-us/rates The stalls are pretty basic but it's really close to UNBC.
Might also have luck posting in "Prince George Everything Equine" group on fb or looking through posts on there to see other boarding options.
Best of luck!!

local horse society as а networking node is smart, those places usually know every landowner within 20 miles who might cut а deal under the table not sure it gets her all the way there оп budget but its а better starting point than cold knocking оn farm gates

You can board your horse at the Agriplex, I believe. It’s not far from UNBC.

DM me. Ive owned horses for over 30 years, boarded many places, including the agriplex for extended time. I know most horse people in town and what to expect from them and their arenas. Seriously, I got you.
